Fashion show outfit sketches

Hey all! Sorry this isn't a 3D update, but I've just been doing lots of concept sketching over the last two weeks. Here are the updated costumes for my SUPERHERO themed fashion show (so excited!) with inspiration from different candies/desserts/treats.

This one has been going under lots of iterations. I've been struggling with colors, mostly. I've been going through design after design, not having much trouble with that, but finding a design that will go well with lots of bright colors is hard. :\ So she's very much still under construction. She's based on gummy candies.

This is Ariel, and she's one of my favorites (don't tell the others). Based on chocolate-covered strawberries.

This one is pretty solid. I like her design and colors as well. I'm probably not going to change her much. And yes, that purple is hair. :) She's inspired by cotton candy!

Now this one is my absolute favorites. She's basically awesome. Need to fix a few things first, but I do really like her. Oh, and jaw-breakers are her inspiration.

Thanks, all. :)

Mannequin...chick...thing?

So! A new post. Finally. Sorry 'bout that. Well, here is one of the projects I've been working all summer on: the basic body for my fashion show senior thesis project. Yep, getting a head-start.

I'm pretty happy with her basic form, so now I get to start throwing clothes on her! I was excited for this step, and after spending about 4 hours fiddling around with nCloth, I remembered why I...hated it. Well, hate is a strong word. Probably would help if I had some actual instruction on it (remember a few posts ago? Wia was my first attempt at making a shirt with nCloth) but oh, well, trial and error is fun.

After coming up with a basic sketch I'm ashamed to show anyone who expects to live afterwards, I decided that I really wish I could skip this step and go straight to the rigging, but alas, I know that to be the wrong order of things. :(

I'm also doing pretty well with the progress of the website - I put down generating a lot of content so I could concentrate on getting this model done, so now I really should turn my attention back for the remainder of the summer.

Hopefully more updates soon!

Blend Shapes final

So I had an independent study on how to animate the face via blend shapes and this was a resulting example of what I learned to do. I created around 40 different shapes, some of which are included in this example. These are just the stills, but I will soon post a link to the video including the transitioning between the different expressions so you can see how the face moves. :)

This was created in probably about 4 weeks, the bust in about 2 weeks, so 6 weeks total. Spring of 2010. Sorry the image is huge. Heh. Forgot to scale it down.

End of the year projects

Hello all!

It's been forever since I updated and I realized that I probably should. So, I thought I would let you know how all my finals went gradually over the next week or two, hopefully intermingled with some work that I'm doing over the summer. At the moment I'm starting on my senior thesis and building an actual gallery website (ugh - thanks so much to my sister for helping me, though).

So, to start with, here's the final I did for my rendering class - it turned out reasonably well, the only thing I'm very disappointed in is the ground texture. Pretty obvious I didn't do too much with it. :\

Rendering Week 5

Here's the assignment I finished for this week Rendering class. It's rather silly. The assignment was to play around with paint effects and toon shading. So this is what I came up with! (Made teh skeleton in a previous quarter - just stuck it in for kicks). And, yes, everything but the stomach and skeleton are not at all medically accurate. :)
